Flashback to 2022
2022 was a pivotal year for World Mission University in its steps forward from the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, many schools have suffered from the consequences of the pandemic, but with the grace of God, WMU was able to strive forward with our excellence in education from our online education services. In addition, our SMART classrooms with top-of-the-line technological equipment has provided our educational advancements to adapt to the digital age. Within the last few months, WMU has been awarded funds from the Lilly Endowment’s Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative for our ‘Spirituality of Online Theological Education in the Digital Era’ project (June 30, 2022). WMU has successfully acquired membership from CCNE on October 20, 2022. And the first semester of our English program consisting of 32 students from African countries has been successfully completed.
Social Welfare and Coaching sub-major courses have been added to World Mission University’s Global Leadership Master’s Program, which allows students to study in new major fields. Another major course was added to the Doctor of Ministry program – ‘Counseling Coaching and Spiritual Formation’ (DMin in CCSF). The Counseling/Coaching and Spiritual Formation (CCSF) was formed for the purpose of allowing Doctoral students to enroll in areas of Counseling and Coaching. A new major has been added to our PhD program – ‘Spiritual Formation and Counseling Coaching’. WMU has decided to change the program name for church music from ‘Doctor of Church Music’ (DCM) to ‘Doctor of Musical Arts’ (DMA). WMU started a non-profit organization called the DSLIM Foundation to honor the achievements and legacy of Founder Dong-Sun Lim. WMU has humbly donated $7,440 to Ukraine in hopes to help those affected by the Ukrainian War. Lastly, WMU will continue working vigorously to achieve WASC accreditation.
Expected in 2023
World Mission University will start a program called VISION 2030, which is an initiative to reach 1,000 enrolled students by the year 2030. In 2023, WMU will focus on our relationships and networks with Korea, Brazil, Indonesia, and the Philippines so that we can further strengthen our international relations and expansion. WMU will establish a new Doctorate program – Worship Studies. IT improvements will be made for Moodle functions for faculty development, building a metaverse-friendly campus for educational innovation, and continue improving our hybrid learning environments. WMU will start preparing for the establishment of a senior citizen health center, which focuses on providing free services for the elderly in Los Angeles County. Lastly, to honor Founder Dong Sun Lim’s 100th anniversary of his passing, WMU will start a project to commemorate his life.

I hope that the best for WMU will come in 2023. We will continue relying on the Lord and the word of God without focusing only on purpose or achievement. We truly hope and have faith that the Lord will bestow amazing grace for WMU. I hope that 2023 will be filled with peace and joy that God gives through the Word.
