Video of the 100th Anniversary Concert of Rev. Dong-Sun Lim

A concert to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Rev. Dong Sun Lim was held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at the Oriental Missionary Church. In this concert, the life story of Rev. Lim was created in the form of a musical oratorio and expressed through a concert. The overall musical director was Prof. Yoon Im-sang of the Department of Music.

The musical oratorio is composed of four chapters. In the first chapter, the pastor experiences the Holy Spirit in a prison in the North and is miraculously released and heads to Inam. In the second chapter, he came to Inam, entered the seminary, became a pastor, planted a church, cast out demons, and experienced miracles. In the third chapter, he ministered as a military chaplain and preached “There is a way for this country to live if there is thorough repentance from the top,” in the presence of then President Syngman Rhee, and it was movingly depicted that he stood firmly with the gospel and did not waver under any condition. The fourth chapter vividly depicted the life of Pastor Lee, who came to the United States in 1965 and practiced Jesus’ threefold ministry (mission, education, and service) as his own ministry, establishing the Oriental Missionary Church for service work, the World Mission University as a source base for education, and the World Evangelistic Alliance as a foothold for world mission, and finally, the life of Pastor Lee, who practiced his determination to throw himself for the gospel until the end of his life.

This commemorative concert fuses the musical forms of musical and oratorio to express the highlights of Rev. Lim’s life. With orchestral accompaniment and choral and solo performers comprised of alumni and current students of World Mission University’s music department, all who attended were deeply impressed by the vivid expression of Rev. Lim’s life in the form of a musical oratorio with real choral music.
