Certificate Program in Understanding
and Ministry of Christian Disability Studies
This certificate program, developed in partnership with World Mission University and the DSLIM Foundation, is designed to help diverse faith communities develop a proper understanding of disability, explore theological and ethical issues related to disability, and support the full participation of people with disabilities in churches and society. The program aims to educate and train leaders of institutions and local churches, laypeople, and community volunteers. Through this program, participants will achieve the following goals:
- Review the latest research and literature on disability studies, disability theology, and disability welfare missions, and explore their relationship to faith communities and our lives.
- Learn what the Bible teaches about disability.
- Understand approaches and perspectives that enable all members of society to participate in worship and church activities, regardless of disability.
- Recognize how individuals with disabilities or daily life challenges experience transformation and contribute within faith communities.
- Expand into family ministries for people with disabilities by learning ways to better understand families, strengthen their capacity, and provide support.
